Some days you wake up knowing exactly what you want to wear and other days you curse your closet because it’s not cooperating.
I know, I’ve been there, I feel ya. I’ve got good days (duh, this is a fashion blog) and I’ve got bad days. But I’ve learned so much over the past few years that rescue me when I get stuck. So if you need a little help, here are my 8 favorite tips to help you get dressed faster in the morning*.
*It should go without saying that this will help you get dressed at night, too.. or really any time of day.
Make a plan
Pre-plan outfits a night or two in advance. Think of them in your head, write them down, or even pull them out of your closet and put them in a certain place for later.
Get inspired
Have a major Pinterest/magazine/blog reading sesh and fill your brain with as many ideas as humanly possible. Doing so will give you lots of ideas to look back on. I actually have notebooks full of magazine collages that I keep in my closet and pull out a lot. It’s like a personalized magazine made just for me where I know I’ll love every look!
Clean your closet
Get rid of stuff you don’t wear, give it to a friend or donate it. Strip your closet down to just the basics and your favorite clothes. I even made a funny little video that might inspire you. 😉
Have a friend style you
Why not have a friend or S.O. style you? You don’t have to plan a thing! The best part is, they don’t even have to live in the same country as you to do so. How great is that?
Take a style quiz
Take a style quiz online or in a mag. Why? The more you know about your style, the easier it is to look at your closet and come up with an outfit. Give this one a try to see what direction you should go in.
If you already have a good grasp of your style then just skip this tip.
Have go-to looks
Always set aside some go-to looks that you can rely on when you’re brain turns to mush at the sight of your closet. I can’t say enough about the power of having a dress you can count on!
Get dressed backwards
This sounds silly but stay with me! Start by picking out accessories you want to wear and then build an outfit from there. Shake up your routine so you’re not looking at your closet the same way everyday. If you normally start with your makeup, do that last instead.
Also, a great tip I heard is instead of dressing for how you feel, dress for you want to feel. So often we get dressed to reflect our moods but working backwards might actually be more effective!
Wear what you wore yesterday
Hey, I am The Outfit Repeater after all!
Thank you for these great tips!! I’m always in need of some new inspiration and I totally can do all of these. <3
I love these tips! I’m constantly searching Pinterest for new ideas and inspiration. Also, I love styling an outfit around a necklace or a pair of shoes. It helps you think outside the box! Commenting via The Blogging Elite from blissfullybrunette.com
