I’ve tried and written about many wardrobe planning apps. They’ve come in clutch for me to see my entire closet, plan outfits ahead of time for events, and have more fun playing in my closet.
While many closet apps exist on the market, they’re not all created equal.
I’ve had the opportunity to beta test a new app called DRESSED, created by Bryson Meunier. He contacted me back in the spring to pitch his idea, and I helped test, test, and re-test different features and give him my feedback from the perspective of an outfit repeater and part-time stylist.
His final product, the DRESSED app, is a handy tool for anyone struggling with their wardrobe.

What is the DRESSED App?
DRESSED is an AI outfit generator and AI personal stylist in one.
After taking a quick style quiz, it pairs you with a virtual stylist named Vera, who is able to generate complete outfits from real clothes in your closet, each one tailored to the weather in your area, events you have on your calendar, or whether you feel like outfit repeating.
The app makes it feel like you have a personal stylist in your pocket, ready to dress you at a moment’s notice. And at $8 a month (or $80 a year) it’s more affordable than one, too!
As a human stylist, I wouldn’t want her taking my job which is where some other neat features come in!
How Do You Use the DRESSED App?
While AI is the major draw for the DRESSED app, there are many features that focus on community and accessibility.
I appreciate any app that allows me to upload my closet and get dressed from bed. There are so many ways to do that! From importing a closet from a screenshot to having it pull pieces from an outfit photo you upload, or adding items to your closet one at a time.
The app can also track the outfits you’ve worn and break down stats like the number of times you’ve worn an item, the cost per wear of an individual piece, determine what’s in your laundry (not as creepy as it sounds! haha), and, my personal favorite, assist you with a closet cleanout!
For those who want more help with their daily fit, you can create a look or upload an outfit photo to get feedback from Vera on your outfit. If being analyzed by AI makes you uncomfortable, you can also create an outfit collage to share within the app or post on social media to get reactions from your friends!
In addition to all of these benefits, it can also help you fill in the gaps in your wardrobe. One thing I stressed to Bryson was my commitment to sustainability, so he updated the app from only recommending shopping from mainstream retailers to implementing options from secondhand websites, like eBay, too!
The Impact of the DRESSED App
From an environmental standpoint, I do have hesitations about the use of generative AI in many products, including wardrobe planning apps. Clueless really sold us on a virtual closet; they just didn’t tell us how it would come together.
I don’t know what the solution is, but I also see the value in apps like DRESSED as tools to help others learn about their personal style, make smarter shopping choices, feel more confident in their outfits, and enjoy other positive benefits.
In a perfect world, we’d all have the financial means to hire a personal stylist or have a friend on speed dial to help with style dilemmas. As of right now, wardrobe planning apps are a great in-between that can serve as the soundboard that many of us could really use.
