This was an unpredictable year but I have a feeling you’ll love how I restyled my best thrifted clothing of 2020!
Most of my best thrifted clothing was sourced online from thredUP, Depop, or Poshmark. Though I did still manage to thrift in person at my favorite Goodwill of SCWI locations, among other secondhand stores that are featured on my Thrift Store Map.
While we can all agree this was a strange year to thrift, I’m happy with the choices I made in regards to thrifting. I saved money, I became even more intentional with my purchases, and I have a deeper appreciation for all the work that thrift stores do in our community during times of trouble.
Here’s a look at my best thrifted clothing of 2020 and some fun facts behind each outfit!
Teal A-line Skirt from thredUP
One of my first thrifted clothing finds back in January was this teal skirt from thredUP. I can’t seem to find an image of how I originally styled but I know I bought it to replace an older skirt from my closet so I posted that for comparison.
I’m totally into the bright color so I paired it with a mint green tee from the same color family and yellow accessories.
Nude Flats
In February I came across an adorable pair of nude flats. What makes these so special? I’d say it’s the little bow on the back of the heels! I couldn’t find any pictures from how I originally wore them so, again, this is a past outfit that features similar shoes that have since been replaced by the new ones.
(Funny that the look on the left is from last years post titled “My 12 Best Thrifted Clothes of 2019: Styled Then And Now“!)
White Fur Coat
Arguably the most fun thing I bought in 2020 was this white fur coat. It was back in March, about 1 week before lockdowns went into place, and I was thrifting up a storm. I had no idea what the future would hold or how many outfits I would style around this seemingly wackadoodle jacket!
Baby Blue Moto Jacket from Poshmark
I didn’t thrift anything in April or May (gasp!) but took my time planning out the purchase of a baby blue leather moto jacket from Poshmark in June. The seller couldn’t have been nicer and made the online shopping experience excellent!
Teal T-shirt from thredUP
By July, I had spent lots of time clearing out my closet and getting serious about my style goals. While shopping, I now keep in mind a particular color pallette that can be mixed and matched effortlessly to help me get dressed faster.
I’m sure you can guess by looking at this post that teal made my list!
Pink Sweater from thredUP
Another theme you might pick up on on this list is replacing!
I bought the pink sweater on the right to replace the pink sweater on the left. (As seen in the This Outfit Is All That! post from 2017)
There are various reasons why I’ve been replacing some things. The teal skirt from above was switched out because the material didn’t mesh with my closet. Another is my fluctuating weight. Rather than live with clothes that are the wrong size, I promptly replace them with a more comfortable size!
Flared Jeans from thredUP
As part of my very sleepy summer, I quit making thrift haul videos in September. However, I did not stop thrifting!
I actually managed to score these high waisted, dark wash, flared jeans from my thrifting wishlist. I’d been stalking the style online for almost 2 years and finally found them. They’re in like-new condition and I couldn’t be happier with them!
Yellow T-shirt
I’ve been going through such a huge yellow phase this year (though the old picture on the left would make you think it’s been in my life for years!) so finding this solid yellow tee in October was awesome.
I bought it at a Plato’s Closet when I was selling off some of my pre-loved items and actually used credit to purchase it. So that makes it free, right?!
Rainbow Striped Skirt from thredUP
My thrifting game in November was TOPS! I wish I still had the energy to film thrift haul videos because I think y’all would have loved what I found.
One of the best of the best things was this rainbow skirt that I recently wore in my 3 Questions That Will Change The Way You Look At Your Closet post. It feels like the most ME piece of clothing ever!
I spotted it on thredUP and watched it for about 3 weeks before adding it to my cart. I don’t know how it didn’t get snatched up in that time but I’m thankful it didn’t!
Yellow Cardigan from Swap.com
My best December thrifted clothing find is the yellow cardigan on the right that I bought from Swap.com. The only thing I have to compare it to is a vintage golden yellow sweater from a couple years ago, as seen on the left.
To be even more specific about my love of yellow clothes – they must be BRIGHT! No dark or orange-y toned yellows. You hear me, thrift gods?
A Year of Thrifted Clothes
Thank you for sharing in my love of thrifted clothes! It was a lot of fun to go through my finds and restyle them. In some cases, my style changed a lot in just a few months! Let me know in the comments which look was your favorite.
