This look is hot, it’s marvelous, it’s.. totally inspired by the 1986 movie Pretty in Pink.
Besides being one of my favorite films, Pretty in Pink is also returning to select theaters to celebrate its 30th anniversary this week. While I wasn’t able to attend the Valentine’s Day showing, and won’t be making it to the 17th one either, I still watched the movie from the comfort of my own home and enjoyed it for about the millionth time.
My mom even joined me and shared in my tradition of yelling at Andie for not picking Duckie in the end. What about you? Are you Team Duckie or Team Blane? If you get a chance, I would highly recommended catching a showing of this. Check out showtimes here.
Pretty in Pink is the kind of movie I can watch over and over again and always find something new to love about it. This last time I was drawn to Andie’s adoration of a good mockneck that she sported in both her prom dress and a casual look towards the end of the movie.
I took that as inspiration for the outfit I wore for Valentine’s Day. With the recent dying of my hair back to a purple color, it felt very fitting to wear my fave floral blazer and the most stellar vintage earrings I own. I seriously admire these in my collection a lot but never have a very good reason to wear them outside of a few oddball characters on my YouTube channel. I guess you could consider this their official debut on my blog!
Oh and the gently falling snow is a great accessory, right? If it wasn’t so cold, I’d love to have it join me for all my outfit posts!
If you haven’t got your fill of throwback movie outfit inspiration, why not see what I wore to watch the first Home Alone movie in theaters. (Another famous John Hughes flick) Hmm… a film from 1990 but an outfit from 2015. Imagine that!
Well, I’m off like a dirty shirt. I’ll see you around on the internet!

Those earrings look so cute with your new hair color. And of course your lip color is coordinated because how else would a queen of lip color roll?

So I’m thinking I must’ve seen this on Instagram and thought subconsciously HEY! that’s what she could do on her blog! .. and duh. Lol! I’m so behind on everyone’s blog :(.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen Pretty in Pink. Although I can’t remember until I see it again? Haha. I’ve done that with SO many 80s movies (or all movies in general) that it’s crazy. I’m just not a movie gal!
Love your style!
