Everything Old Is New Again
Fashion is circular meaning that what was once in fashion a couple of decades ago is bound to come around again. So wouldn’t your mom or grandma’s clothes back in style eventually?
This outfit was inspired by this thrifted Peter Pan collar blouse I picked up recently. At first glance, the style is a little matronly. Like something an older person would wear. But it has a certain timeless quality to it.
The pastel is very on trend for Spring, as is the floral. And the collar makes quite a statement and would look just as great layered under a pinafore dress as it does with these modern striped shorts.
Stealing Your Grandma’s Style
If you want to snag a similar look, browse through the closet of an older family member or rescue some vintage garments from a thrift store. The real trick to updating older pieces is to balance them with contemporary styles. One great way to do that is with denim – a light jacket or your favorite jeans will do.
Another way to toughen up the item is with a (faux) leather moto jacket. Nothing says cool like a retro dress and a black biker jacket!
What’s your favorite way to style vintage clothes with modern trends? Let me know in the comments!

This top is so cute!! And this post is great…I always interpreted your “stay-at-home daughter” side bar line as a joke. Basically, you’re saying you make money online and prefer being at your home than a social butterfly?! It sounds like a dream!

Ok if you know me, you know one VERY important thing: I own a million collared things but Peter Pan’s are my favorite! Guess I’m part of the club 😉
Lol – I figured I’m either an 80 year old lady or a 5 year old girl – floral peter pan collars and Hello Kitty stuff for me. Those pink shorts are so sweet!

Haha you are so awesome. I think I’m a mix of being a child and an elderly person. Mainly a child. Because I do take naps, sleep all day, am horrible with my time management, and binge on Netflix. We’d pretty much be opposites in those areas! But I seriously love this outfit and I think if an 80 year old woman wore it, she’d be one stylish lady!
This outfit is SO stinkin’ cute! Alex

Very cute outfit and interesting introduction post for me. Gives some insight into your life and of course is super awesome that most of what you had on was 1. super cute and 2. doesn’t break bank.
