Working at Maurices has really trained my styling eye. We have an unofficial motto that says you should only wear an outfit you’d be proud to share on social media so I’m taking that to heart by sharing my outfits that I’ve worn for my shifts this week!
While I’m not always able to document every single look, I’m going to try to share as many as I can. Hopefully this will inspire you if you also work in a creative environment.
Exact & similar pieces to purchase will always be linked below the outfits!
Pastel Pants
I unintentionally wore kimonos during all my shifts this week but I don’t hate it!
A lot of people feel intimidated by kimonos but here I am rocking one with jeans and a t-shirt! It doesn’t have to be any more complicated than that. Though you can choose to wear colored jeggings to spice things up. 🙂

Golden Girl
Our district-wide outfit challenge this week focused on dresses!
I decided to test drive one that’s outside my comfort zone – a white & yellow floral shift dress – but meshed it with pieces that are totally me. The end result is an outfit that really reflects my personal style while also trying something new!

Now Trending
During this shift I also got to “freestyle” the mannequins we have hanging by the fitting rooms. Getting to play with clothes is one of my favorite things so I always have fun with this task. What do you think of the looks I created with our new spring trends?
Mixin’ It Up
Another trend people shy away from is pattern mixing. I can’t even tell you how many compliments I got on this look!
When customers insist they could never wear it, I tell them to just DO IT. What’s the worst that can happen?! You just might end up finding a new way to wear your clothes that you love but you’ll never know unless you try!
This outfit works because there’s a similar raspberry color tying them together and because the floral isn’t busy or trying to compete with the striped dress. Overall, it’s very pleasing to the eye!

Peace Out ✌️
I finished off my week of kimonos by trying a completely new silhouette. Normally I advise keeping things streamlined under your cover-up so you don’t get swallowed by the fabric, but I felt like channeling a hippie spirit and went for a flowy breezy look by pairing a thrifted kimono with my Maurices polka dot jumpsuit.
A few customers were even empowered enough to try my jumpsuit with one curvy gal actually purchasing my head-to-toe look that I wore in a previous outfit post!
(Oh and hello, more subtle pattern mixing!)
