How To Wear Head-To-Toe Black
I get it; black is a comfort color.
Don’t know what to wear? Throw on black. On your period? Wear black for safety. Trying to blend in at an event? Black it is!
But an all-black outfit can be pretty dull.
Once upon a time, I used to wear black head-to-toe. But then I discovered vintage clothes and started to have fun with color, pattern, texture, and shine (thanks, What Not To Wear!), and haven’t looked back since.
That’s not to say that black clothes don’t exist in my wardrobe. I have plenty. And I still wear a monochromatic look when my brain fog gets thick or I’m pretty sure I won’t run into anyone important on my errands.
But nowadays, I look to add dark pieces into my closet that have some fun elements.
Like this leopard print skirt or this oversized denim jacket. The dark color makes them ordinary and easy to wear but the silhouette or pattern makes them feel kind of special.

WHAT I’M WEARING
Thrifted denim jacket, skirt, tank top, and sandals | Old Tobi sunglasses, gifted | Hand-me-down flair
Then if I do wear an all-black ensemble, at least there’s a little interest in each piece and I still feel like myself!
This is the perfect transitional outfit for summer. It’s got layers for unpredictable temps and is very comfortable for running around or taking an afternoon nap. Y’know, just summer stuff!
Beyond An All-Black Outfit
Did you notice that this whole outfit is thrifted? Not only is it all-black but with interest; it’s also thrifted! Sustainability for the win!

Ooh, right in the jugular! I love an all-black outfit and can’t see myself turning from it, but I try to break things up a bit by wearing different textures (say, a cashmere sweater and a silk skirt, or a silk top and denim). But I love this outfit – and the fact that it’s all thrifted makes it even better!
