  • What To Wear on New Years Eve: A Sequin Jumpsuit

holiday trend new years eve sequin jumpsuit hannah rupp the outfit repeater asos party

    It’s Party Time

If you’re not wearing sequins on New Years Eve then is it really New Years Eve?!

My approach to holiday dressing is always “go big or go home” and this is sequin jumpsuit from ASOS is not meant to stay at home! I borrowed it via Try.com because I love a good jumpsuit but I’ve never worn one covered in sequins. I felt like a human disco ball! Plus, a jumpsuit is kind of my new favorite alternative to dresses.. if you haven’t noticed.

[su_note note_color=”#ffffff”]TIP: If you’re interested in testing out some new looks in the new year, give Try.com a go. Use my link to get $25 credit on your first order. Read my full review of Try.com by clicking here.[/su_note]

And even though it’s been an entire year, this outfit is still strikingly similar to the thrifted look I wore last NYE. Which one do you like better?

  • 3 Ways To Wear a Turtleneck This Winter

turtleneck outfit ideas winter hannah rupp the outfit repeater thrifted cute fashion

    Sweater Weather

One of my favorite cold weather clothing must-haves is a turtleneck. If you tend to shy away from turtlenecks because you’re not sure how to style them, I’m here to share with you 3 unique looks that will spark your creativity!

    Feelin’ Festive

This is the exact look I wore for Thanksgiving.. and then a few times after because I loved the combination.

A turtleneck looks just as chic with a skirt as it does a pair of pants! Keeping that in mind really expands your styling options.

turtleneck outfit ideas winter hannah rupp the outfit repeater thrifted cute fashion

    Outer Shell

Look, another skirt! This time, I played with the juxtaposition of a “dowdy” turtleneck and edgy pieces like a moto jacket and flat black boots. I think the mix is really cool!

    Covered Up

A great way to keep your spirits up in the winter is to wear lots of color. I dressed up my thrifted plain white turtleneck and jeans with a pink coat and green scarf. It’s an easy way to add some interest to an otherwise simple outfit!

  • Revisiting my Thrifting Fashion Goals for The Year: How Did I Do?

fashion resolutions thrifting goals 2019 2018 hannah rupp the outfit repeater

    2018 Style Goals

I started off 2018 by making thrifted fashion resolutions for the year. To be honest, I haven’t looked at that list until right now when I was writing this post so it should be interesting how I did. Let’s take a look!

    Buy more statement clothes

I actually think I played it safe this year with my fashion choices. The reason being was that my size changed drastically as a result of taking care of my health so I spent most of the year just building up a good selection of basics.

Now that things have settled down, I’ll try to carry this goal over to 2019!

fashion resolutions thrifting goals 2019 2018 hannah rupp the outfit repeater

    Invest in dressy clothes

Aw, yes. I didn’t want to get caught without a fancy frock at a moments notice so I decided to stockpile some pretty gowns.

This was actually on my mind all year so I definitely think I succeeded!

fashion resolutions thrifting goals 2019 2018 hannah rupp the outfit repeater

    Shop out of season

I did pretty good at this by snagging a few coats in the summer and some swimsuit tops in the fall. Sounds like a win to me!

fashion resolutions thrifting goals 2019 2018 hannah rupp the outfit repeater

    Wear the darn jewelry!

I’m the worst at this. I hardly thrifted any jewelry this year and I still barely wore the pieces that I own. I promise I’ll try to change!!!

fashion resolutions thrifting goals 2019 2018 hannah rupp the outfit repeater

    2019 Style Goals

Now that we’ve established what I did and did not do in 2018, I’m going to try to set some new thrifted fashion goals for 2019. Hopefully this time I stick to them better. 😉

    Buy more skirts

Is it just me or does it seem that good skirts and dresses are hard to come by at thrift stores? My skirt collection is embarrassingly sparse so I really want to remedy that in 2019.

fashion resolutions thrifting goals 2019 2018 hannah rupp the outfit repeater

Be more mindful of my choices

Raise your hand if you’ve ever thrifted something you’ve been lusting over buuuut it was just a little off? Like a cute t-shirt that was actually too big. Or a beautiful dress that’s just a bit short.

We’re all guilty of this. I want to make sure that I’m buying pieces that I love, that fit, and will have longevity in my closet. I’m tired of buying things that are almost perfect. Who’s with me on this one?!

fashion resolutions thrifting goals 2019 2018 hannah rupp the outfit repeater

    Find my perfect purse

I have more purses than I know what to do with but in the same vein as the resolution above, I’m finding they’re not as functional as I thought they would be.

So I’m determined to find the perfect small purse that fits my needs and is still cute!

    It’s Tulle Time!

This time of year presents many opportunities to wear all the sparkles in your closet. If you’re non-traditional but still want to look festive, a colorful tutu and a sequin rainbow top are a great option!

I tried out this tee from ASOS and found it to be absolutely terrible but it was begging to be styled with this skirt so I obliged for some outfit photos. And so the hunt for the perfect colorful striped t-shirt continues!

  • 3 Faux Fur Vest Outfit Ideas

3 Faux Fur Vest Outfit Ideas

    In-vestment Piece

This is a faux fur vest but these outfits are the real deal!

After dreaming of owning a faux fur vest for many years, I finally had an excuse to purchase one when the Maurices clothing store that I work at had a “vest” theme day.

I instantly fell in love and it fit seamlessly in my closet. Here’s some styling ideas in case you own one or are thinking about purchasing one. Keep scrolling to find out which outfits take the place as my favorite!

    [su_note note_color=”#FFFFFF” text_color=”#000000″ radius=”9″ class=””]

HOT TIP: My faux fur vest is currently sold out on Maurices.com. However, there are many dupes on the Poshmark app. Sign up using code “hannahrupp” for a $5 credit![/su_note]

    Work It

Here is what I wore for working my shift at Maurices. While a few of us stylists own this vest, none of us have worn it exactly the same way which I think is awesome and a testament to personal style.

I matched it up here with a pair of dark wash jeggings, booties in a similar tone, and a maroon blouse to match my lipstick. I felt very chic!

3 Faux Fur Vest Outfit Ideas hannah rupp winter maurices

    Marooned

Sometimes all your outfit needs is a pop color. I used the trick from the outfit above and matched my lipstick to my tights, while keeping everything else neutral. I could see this outfit being great at a holiday party or for a get together with friends!

3 Faux Fur Vest Outfit Ideas hannah rupp winter maurices

    Faux Real

This outfit is my favorite! I love the way the olive colored tunic contrasts with the light brown fur. It’s a fabulous combination! To complete the look I also added my trusty pork pie hat from ASOS, a gifted necklace, and the most buttery soft Forever 21 liquid leggings.

I searched high and low for the perfect faux leather-style leggings and these ones fit the bill. Stretchy, high rise, and sturdy. I can’t recommend them enough!

  • The New Gamechanger In My Closet

    The Bright Stuff

Colourful pants have been a game changer in my closet for me recently. They’ve elevated my standard jeans + a t-shirt uniform into something that reaps compliments from strangers and puts a little pep in my own step.

Here’s how I’m wearing them that will hopefully inspire you to try them out!

    ///

GRAY. Venturing into the world of colorful pants can seem daunting so I’ll ease into things with a pair of gray pants.

This look was inspired by an outfit I saw featured in one of the free catalogs that I subscribe to. Looks like they’re paying off already!

MAROON. Another easy color to incorporate into your wardrobe this winter is maroon.

While it’s technically a color, this dark red hue works really well as a neutral. I paired it up with a radical (firsthand) shirt from my closet that has some similar shades in it. It really makes the outfit something special!

WHITE. Something we all probably have in our closet, but are intimidated by, is a pair of white jeans.

You don’t have to store these away just because it’s cold outside. Ever heard of winter white? Throw these on with your favorite sweater and you’ll be set!

GOLD. Gold are for the bold. I love wearing my yellow jeans with red tops (I welcome the Winnie the Pooh jokes) but it looks just as great with a plain colored top.

Not to sound biased since I work at Maurices, but we really do have some of the best colored jeggings around. The maroon and gold pair in this post are both from the store and I haven’t found another pant that compares – thrifted or not!
