How To Style a Kimono
Summer is almost over and it’s that time of the season where it’s still mostly hot but you want to start layering for fall.
My solution? A kimono!
A kimono is a stylish and comfortable way to beat the heat.
It’s a versatile piece of clothing that can be dressed up or down, and there are so many ways to wear it.
Here are two ways I’ve recently worn a kimono this summer!
Wearing a Kimono With Jeans
I was very inspired by the colors of my kimono and decided to create a casual look with jeans and a matching orange top. I’d say the flowy kimono and distressed jeans give this look a very bohemian vibe!
This would be a great option to wear for a day out thrifting or a friend hang.
Wearing a Kimono With a Dress
But what if you want to dress up your kimono? I did exactly that with a literal dress!
My instinct was to wear it with a short, summer dress but I didn’t have something like that. So I took a chance by pairing this kimono with a long maxi dress and ended up loving it!
Normally I would be bothered that the lengths don’t match up but because both pieces are flowy, it looks very cool and effortless!
How To Thrift Your Own Kimono
The beautiful kimono in this post was thrifted from thredUP. thredUP is the largest online consignment store for women’s clothes in a full range of styles and sizes. I’m pretty obsessed with them!
I’ve found that thrifting kimonos has gotten pretty easy in the last few years. If you’re thrifting a kimono IRL, be sure to browse the cardigans, sleepwear, and swim covers to find something unique!
