This outfit puts a little prep in my step!

The Benefit of Thrifting Your Clothes

One of my favorite reasons for thrifting my clothes is that it allows me to try out different styles on the cheap. I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t own half of my closet had I bought it full price because I would be afraid of trying something new and then never wearing it.

Now, I’m not saying I wouldn’t have thrifted this black & white polka dot sweater but I definitely would have thought twice because of it’s preppy vibes. Read on to get insight into how I wear a style that’s outside my norm!

Style Chameleon

For the most part I never try to pigeon hole myself into one particular style but there are some that I’m not fond of like preppy. What about it screams “Hannah Rupp?!”

So automatically this sweater presented a challenge and I was ready to face it!

Dressing Outside The Box

Instead of giving in and dressing like a scholar, I added a bunch of 1980s elements (that are my personal style) to bring a lot of myself into this look.

Colored pants, a jacket full of flair, and a leopard print purse keep this look from being anything but boring!

Your Style Challenge

I know it’s tough when you buy something and then you’re not quite sure how to make it work. I’d highly recommend a big Pinterest or Google inspiration sesh where you can find other fashionistas rocking similar pieces. (I love the way this girl is rocking a polka dot top too. Maybe I’ll try something like that next time!)

But, more importantly, just play in your closet. Fashion is fun! If you don’t like your outfit, there’s always another day to come up with an even better ensemble!
