Nothing adds ‘pep’ to a bland outfit quite like a pink jacket does. Just look at what it did for this outfit!
On the cusp of my video post about making your own fashion mood board, I wanted to continue the discussion about personal style and how you get there.
I’ve been really inspired lately by my friend Kristina of The Eyre Effect and her style evolution she’s going through. Coincidentally, she gifted me this mint green sweater last year through a Secret Santa exchange and I thought now would be a great opportunity to talk about adding your signature touch to clothes.
I feel like I’m still far from getting there but I believe personal style is a journey and not a race so here’s a little lesson for today!
To me, weird and unusual clothes are like some sort of game. I get a thrill from daring myself to wear something crazy just to see if I can pull it off. This might be an odd tactic but it’s such a fun creative exercise!
Through the years, I’ve thrifted and worn a lot of odd clothes and I’d say this method has really helped shape my style today. When you dress without abandon, you can really start to see what you like and dislike as well as hone your skills.
But I’m sure you’re just trying to figure out why I added a Pepto pink jacket to an already pretty ensemble, right? Well, it’s simple. The outfit on it’s own was a too “safe” for my taste and it needed some edge. So, thinking back to my mood board and my like for edgy outfits, I put on this pink jacket and recently acquired Seven Dials shoes to really make things exciting!
Considering I wear sweaters on the regular in this weather, I was excited to finally find a way to wear them without looking like an extra that just stepped off a preppy movie set.
Now that I’ve got this dressing trick up my sleeve, who knows where my style will take me next! What was the last risk you took with your clothes and did it pay off for you?

scrumptious!
I love that colour. Sadly, I don’t seem ever to be able to make pink work but it looks great on you and fabulous with the minty top. Kx
