A Brand New Goodwill
It’s official! Goodwill of South Central Wisconsin has opened a brand new location in Middleton. I got to be one of the very first customers in the door and even take over their Instagram Stories to show you all the grand opening day fun.
My first impressions of the store were how bright and modern everything was. This didn’t feel like an ordinary thrift store but more of a place to experience.
That may have to do with this being the twelfth location in the area and the fourth one to receive their updated branding which includes being in a LEED certified building with increased natural light and solar panels. Even the artwork on the walls was custom to the building; each piece showcased a special establishment in Middleton.
What I Did
My morning started off with a private tour of the fresh space, as well as a meet & greet with a lot of the staff members.
Social media guru Addie Peck even let me explore the backroom where the donations are held. Did you know that it only takes 24 hours for your donations to be processed and put on the floor? That’s a quick turnaround!
Addie also brought to my attention that, despite popular beliefs, employees are not allowed to pre-shop or put things on hold before customers have had a chance to buy them.
Instead, items must remain on the floor for a set period of time before an employee can buy it after their shift. I’m glad to know they play fair!
What I Wore
My favorite thrifting uniform is a tunic and leggings so my grand opening get-up was no exception!
I picked up my colorful tunic on the secondhand app Poshmark for just a few dollars. I accessorized it with my favorite ASOS pork pie hat, a vintage necklace gifted to me by Redbird Vintage Box, and my trusty black flats.
This outfit kept me mobile and was quick to get on and off for try-ons in the dressing room. (Did you watch my Story takeover to see what I tried on?)
What I Bought
It actually took me two trips and a couple hours to make it through the entire store. That’s both because there were so many customers but also because there was so much to look at!
I noticed many Target surplus items which is great for novice thrifters who might be afraid of getting anything dirty or defective. Also, the prices seemed very fair for much of the items in spite of other thrift store prices being on the rise.
As for what I got? Well, you’ll have to stick around for my monthly thrift haul at the end of the month to see it all!

A big thank you to Goodwill for partnering with me for the Instagram takeover and the shopping trip. I had already planned to attend the grand opening but getting to work together directly was just icing on the cake!
