Needless to say, this was not my summer.
After 12 years with stomach issues and 3 years with chronic fatigue, I’m still finding out new things about myself everyday.
This summer was like one I’d never had before, full of days and weeks stuck in bed with heavy fatigue and brain fog. After months of intense symptoms and doctor appointments, I’m only emerging back into a “human-like” state because the weather has cooled down.
From what I’ve learned from others, summer really brings out with the worst in chronic illnesses and I’ve now experienced that first hand. I’m not “healed” by any means nor did any of my doctors appointments yield a diagnosis, but I’m just taking things day by day. I can take what I went through and be better for tomorrow and then for next summer.
After dressing down for so long, it was a welcome change to be invited to take part in a fashion challenge by Andrea of @andrea_notondrea. She asked me to channel in a photo what fall means to me.
Challenge accepted!
My outfit was actually inspired by a look I wore last year but never got to document. I created it by using ALL the fall colors… because it’s only fall once.
👗 WHAT I’M WEARING 💄
Thrifted coat, scarf, sweater, necklace | Old Walmart sparkly flat shoes | Five Below headband | Old Maurices jeggings | Lipcolor is BLS17 by NYX
Another variation on this look that you can try to make it your own is swapping out the burgundy jeggings for another color – or even just plain denim! Your look will still be just as playful.
I’d also recommend a blanket scarf which would be especially handy if you wore this look for an outdoor fall activity where warmth really mattered.
This outfit was the perfect weight as-is for the nice, cool temps we’re having in Wisconsin right now.
