If you haven’t watched Home Alone in the last month then what are you even doing with your life? While it helps to have seen the first two movies of the series to fully appreciate this outfit, it’s not required because this is also just an awesome Christmas look.
My family usually celebrates holidays in a similar fashion, time after time. This year, however, we had a chance to watch a truly classic Christmas tale in theaters – for free, no less! It was like some kind of Christmas miracle.
A few weeks back, my sister, my mom, and I got to experience Home Alone in a packed theater and it was truly magical. Being the reincarnation of an 80s Valley Girl, I’ve always wanted to watch a John Hughes movie in theaters and now I can cross it off my bucket list!
After the movie, we then spent the day “antiquing” (antique stores are starting to grow on me, guys) and so such a perfect day called for a perfect outfit.
If you didn’t think I’d wear an outfit that matched the movie we watched, you clearly don’t know me very well. Home Alone 1, and even 2, are filled with plaids, sweaters, and all kinds of feel good clothes. I did the best I could, considering I have bright pink hair, and then added my own twist.
I layered a cozy white sweater on top of my favorite green plaid button down to give a nod to the costumes seen throughout the film. My own twist came in the form of these burgundy jeggings and sparkly gold flats. The 90s never saw footwear quite like this. For shame!
The best part of this outfit is the addition of my camel colored coat, in my opinion. Kevin’s dad prominently wears a similar one in the movie so I couldn’t not wear it.
My Christmas day was anticlimactic compared to what Kevin went through in the movie. Though we both did enjoy eating junk and watching rubbish. My presents were very much what you’d expect a girl stuck in the past to get. I posted my “haul” on instagram, if you want to take a look.
Overall, it was a really great day. I hope you also had a good Christmas. Tell me about it in the comments!

Yaass – that is the best Home Alone outfit ever! My parents got my fiance the Home Alone set – that’s all he said he really wanted for Christmas! Also, another way to wear that awesome shirt that we both have!

I KNEW I was getting a cool vibe from this outfit!! Shoulda known it would’ve been something awesome like this. I love the entire outfit! I honestly watched zero Christmas movies because neither Netflix or Hulu offered any of the popular movies. I don’t think my heart has ever been so broken about that!
It’s so crazy that you’re doing a reader survey too! Great (and reader conscious ;P) minds think alike! I have mine scheduled to go up on the first. I’m heading over to take yours now <3
This is such an incredibly beautiful outfit and I adore how Home Alone it is, Kevin McCallister would be proud! x

Love it! I bought my son a Home Alone shirt for Christmas (to wear with an oversized sweater and burgandy pants incidentally) because it’s his fave Christmas movie. Yeah. I raise ’em right.
